Janeth Madsen

Janeth Madsen passed away on Thursday, September 29th at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur. Visitation Wednesday, October 5, 2016, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. There will be a 3:45 p.m. C.C.W. Rosary followed by a short prayer service. Visitation will continue at the Kolden Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur on Thursday, October 6th at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery in Le Sueur. Fr. Andrew Stueve will officiate the services. Janeth was born on January 22, 1923, to Henry and Catherine (Becker) Bessel in Henderson Township. She attended St. Anne's school through eighth grade then graduated from Le Sueur Public High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne's Church and on November 28, 1945 she was united in marriage to Carl Madsen in St. Anne's Catholic Church. Janeth and Carl made their home in Sibley County. Janeth served as Henderson Township clerk for 28 years and was employed at the Le Sueur Midland Co-op as a bookkeeper and Green Giant in the M.R.E., program. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church's C.C.W.; served as treasurer of the cemetery association and secretary/treasurer of Christian Mothers. She also served as a Chaplain for the Henderson American Legion Auxiliary Post 74 and as secretary of the Le Sueur Valley Bird Club. Birdhouses, murals, crafting and quilting showcased her artistic and creative talents. Janeth is survived by Linda (Loren) Rist of Henderson MN, Karen (Jim) Eshleman of Garfield AR, Robert (Tonya) Madsen of Rogers, AR, Luanne (Stuart) Schultz of Sparta, WI, and Lisa (Kern) Jones of Le Sueur MN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by our dad Carl Madsen on 12/29/2000, her parents, and one infant son.
