Janis V. Doetkott

Janis V. Doetkott, age 90 of Arlington, died at her home on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Memorial services will be Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN.  Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 a.m. ~ 11:30 a.m. that morning.  Burial will be in Arlington Public Cemetery, Arlington, MN.  Lunch to follow burial at church.  Rev. Craig McCourt will officiate the Services.

Janis was born on August 17, 1933 to Victor and Margaret (Ralph) Hoff in Fergus Falls, MN.  She was Baptized September 24, 1933 at Pelican Lake Lutheran Church in Ashby, MN. She spent most of the childhood growing up in Ashby, MN.  She was Confirmed on January 23, 1949 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose, MN. Most of her high school years she lived in New Munich, MN and later graduated from Melrose High School in 1951.  She married Allen Doetkott in New Munich, MN on May 3, 1952.  The couple lived in Green Isle for a short time before settling in Arlington, MN in 1959.  She worked for many years at Anchor Glass in Shakopee, MN.  She enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Alaska and Hawaii and to Europe twice.  She enjoyed collecting glassware and figurines.  She also enjoyed shopping, flower gardening, cooking, reading, doing puzzles, ball games, watching T.V. and most of all, baking and decorating at Christmas time for her family.

She is survived by her children; Karen (Steve) Cromer of Shawano, WI, Wanda Nelson of Arlington, MN, Brent (Peggy) Doetkott of Arlington, MN, Kent (Mimie) Doetkott of San Diego, CA, Keith (Keri) Doetkott of Arlington, MN and Jack (Ashley) Doetkott of Arlington, MN.  18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.  Sister Judith Jensen of Richfield, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; Siblings, Jerry Hoff and Jane Servatius and daughter-in-law, Chanita Bowe and great-grandson, Charlie Nelson.
