April 30, 1938 — October 5, 2011

Jean Von Eschen, age 73, of Arlington, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011, in her home. Funeral services will be at 4p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl presiding. Visitation will be from 1-4 P.M. at the church. Jean was born on April 30, 1938 in Dryden Township, Sibley County. She graduated from Arlington-Green Isle High School in 1956, where she was involved in cheerleading, student council, journalism and shorthand. Jean married James Von Eschen on December 28, 1957, in Glencoe; they were married for 24 years. She worked as a legal secretary in Winthrop for 50 years, and worked with Sheldon Larson for most of those years. During her life Jean worked very hard for her family and was a role model to all that knew her. For fun she liked spending time playing cards, softball, bowling and solving crossword puzzles. Jean particularly enjoyed her trip to Europe with her mother Lorraine and the Concord Singers in August of 1987. Jean also was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church where she served as a member of the Constitution Committee, Financial Secretary and on the Altar Guild. Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Cindy) Von Eschen of Savage, son and daughter-in-law, Matt (Kristen) Von Eschen of Shakopee, daughter and son-in-law, Mary (Steve) Goetsch of Gaylord. Grandchildren, Ashley (Kevin) Smart, Erik Goetsch, Kyle Goetsch, Luke Von Eschen, Amber Von Eschen, Lauren Von Eschen, and great-grandchild, Cayden Smart, also brother and sister-in-law Tom (Hope) Abram of San Antonio, TX. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Lorraine.
