Jerome “Jerry” Gill, 78, of Belle Plaine, died May 4, 2025, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, MN. Services for Jerry are private.

Jerry was born on July 4, 1946, in St. Peter, MN to Alois and Agnes (Callahan) Gill. He grew up in St. Thomas and attended Le Sueur High School, graduating in 1965. After high school, Jerry farmed with his dad. But on June 21, 1966, he was drafted into the Vietnam War by the United States Army. Two years late on April 8, 1968, he was discharged. He continued farming with his father and brother until the early 70’s. He worked various jobs as a forklift operator throughout his life until he retired in 2012.

In 1988, Jerry and Sue got reacquainted and fell in love They married on June 10, 1994, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill, spending a total of 38 beautiful years together.

Jerry was never afraid to meet someone new. He loved talking to people and making new friends. He loved farming, collecting pedal tractors, and his OLD country music outdoor concerts.

Jerry enjoyed going up to the North Shore to Grand Marais, calling it his “sanctuary”. He enjoyed hiking and checking out waterfalls. He was always on the hunt to see a moose up on the Gun Flint trail.

His favorite beer was Brule River Blonde Ale from Voyager Brewing Co. But always liked to try a new craft beer from other breweries.

He especially enjoyed time with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jerry is survived by wife Sue of Belle Plaine; siblings Mary (Joe) Giesen of Belle Plaine, Mike Gill of St. Thomas, Pat (JoAnne) Gill of Chaska, and Joey Gill of St. Thomas; brothers-in-law Randy (special friend Ann Osborn) and Scott Voss; sisters-in-law Louisa Voss, Deb Voss, Diane Block; mother-in-law Mary Jane Voss; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Earl Voss; brother-in-law Gregg Voss; brother-in-law Windy Block; and nephew Tyler Heilman.
