Gerald "Jerry" Mathias Soller died at his home on December 25th, 2017 and was surrounded by his family. He was 89. Memorial Mass will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Brian Lynch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be at a later date in the Schlegel Cemetery. Jerry was born on May 13th, 1928 in Belle Plaine, MN to his parents John and Myrtle (Ridd) Soller. He later attended St. Anne's parochial school and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy. Jerry met Donna, the love of his life on a blind date introduced by their best friends and they were married in January of 1953. They lived in St. Paul and later moved to Jordan, MN where they raised their 4 children. He worked at Union 76 Oil Company for over 35 years and in his retirement; Jerry and Donna enjoyed traveling throughout the States, Europe and Mexico. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren- being a babysitter, chauffer, tutor, a cook, an ‘unofficial driver's training instructor", attending dance lessons, attending sporting events, playing Santa Claus and was a mentor to his grandsons when hunting and fishing season came around, and all other Grandpa duties that were needed. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Donna-Belle Plaine,daughter Michele (Jim) Eiden- Glencoe, MN, son Mark (Cindy) Soller- Jordan, MN, daughter Sarah (Tom) Beckius- Belle Plaine, MN and son Tim (Jean) Soller- Belle Plaine, MN, his grandchildren: Tina Soller, Marissa (Kevin) Duffy, Chris (Pam) Eiden, Zach Soller, Jake (Sadie) Beckius, Abby (Bruce) Chmielewski, Jes Soller (Jenna), Hannah (Joel) Jerabek), Rachel (Jeremy) Meuwissen, Mackenzie (Nick) Krohn, and his great grandchildren Greta, Maggie, Briar, Wyatt, Zoey, Wil and Elsie. His sister Mary Luther- Bristol RI, many sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Gladys Hayden, Clara Flowers, Catherine Schuster, Rita LaBelle and brother Roger Soller, Jerry's grandson Ben Eiden and granddaughter Kari Soller. Jerry's quick wit and smile will be greatly missed by all.
