Joann Reistroffer

JoAnn Reistroffer, 70, of Arlington, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Arlington, MN. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at Kolden Funeral Home from 9:00 - 10:15AM. We will then proceed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for the 10:30AM Mass. Burial will follow Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Arlington. Lunch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Social Hall will follow.

JoAnn was born on February 27, 1952 to George and Dorothy (Urban) Wilson in Storm Lake, Iowa.  She grew up in Newell, Iowa and graduated from Newell High School in 1970.  She attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in 1974 with a B.A. Degree in Education. JoAnn taught Home Economics in Battle Creek, Iowa for 8 years. She met Tom Reistroffer and they were married on June 24, 1977 in Ida Grove, Iowa. They started a family in 1978 and moved to Arlington, MN in 1987.

JoAnn enjoyed helping others. She worked at Community Living in Victoria, MN, and the DAC in Arlington. She was also a para-professional at Sibley East Schools and was a Home Health Aide. JoAnn created a Summer Learner’s Program in the early 90’s, she was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader. More recently she was a member of T.O.P.S. in Arlington. She enjoyed playing games, especially Scrabble, camping with her family, reading, taking walks, and spending time with her pets, most of all her cats.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; daughters Stephanie Reistroffer and her husband Justin Erickson of South St. Paul, MN; Lesley Reistroffer of Baxter, MN; Katie Reistroffer and her partner Nick Woelfel of Preston, MN; and her grandchildren Sophie and Logan Woelfel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her infant son, Todd.
