Joanne M. Riebel

Joanne M. Riebel, age 88 of Le Sueur, died on Friday morning, July 28, 2023 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.  Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 10:30 a.m, St. Anne's Church, Le Sueur, MN.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 beginning with a 3:45 p.m. C.C.W. Rosary and ending at 7:00 p.m, Kolden Funeral Home, Le Sueur.   Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. ~ 10:30 a.m.  Following Mass, lunch will be held at St. Anne's School in Le Sueur followed by burial in St. Henry Cemetery, St. Henry, MN.  Fr. Chris Shofner will officiate the services.

Joanne was born on April 18, 1935 in St. Paul, MN to Victor and Ruby (Betzing) Schmit.  She attended John Ireland grade school, St. Peter High School and Mankato Commercial College.  She worked in Minneapolis as a secretary at Central Lumber Company from 1953 to 1956 and for Minneapolis Honeywell from 1956 to 1959.  On November 14, 1959 she was united in holy matrimony to Roland (Rollie) Riebel at St. Mary’s Church in St. Peter.  The “city girl” became a hard-working and proud farmers wife. She was past president of the St. Henry Altar Society and Le Sueur Country Club Women’s Golf Association.

Joanne is survived by her five children, Brad (Melissa) Riebel of Bloomington, Leanne Holter of Daytona Beach, FL, Pat Riebel of Elk River, Greg (Nancy) Riebel of Excelsior and Lisa Ruehling of New Prague, her grandchildren Michael Riebel, John Riebel, Amy (Ted) Davis, Todd Holter, Trevor Riebel, Madeline Riebel, Tanner (Megan) Riebel, Logan Riebel, Taylor Ruehling, Lexi Ruehling and great-grandchildren, Gracie, Abigail and Nathaniel Davis.  Also, her 2 brothers Dave (Ramona) Schmit of Phoenix, AZ, Mark Schmit of Webster, SD, and sister Bonnie Urban of Glendora, CA.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rollie in August of 2007, and siblings Dennis Schmit and Carol Kiesow.

The family thanks all the caregivers at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Ridgeview Hospital in Le Sueur and Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  Memorials prefered to St. Anne's School.
