John H. Heinks, age 87 of LeSueur, died on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 25, 1928 in Clara City, Minnesota to Henry and Katie (Randt) Heinks. He grew up near Maynard, Minnesota. John married Mildred Hintz on June 7, 1951 in Clara City. He worked for the elevator in Montivideo, farmed near Raymond and moved to LeSueur in 1959. He co-owned Freddy and Johnny's Bar in LeSueur for 2 years and then worked road construction for Judd Brown and Wally Wolf for many years. He then worked for Hubbard at their LeSueur dog food plant until his retirement. He was very active in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeSueur and served in various capacities. John is survived by his wife, Mildred; Children, David (Marti) Heinks of California, Debra Bergerson of Hopkins Mn., Daniel (Tammy) Heinks of Cambridge, and Julie (Steve) Gerdts of LeSueur. 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. Sister, Ethel (John) Freese of Maynard, Mn. and Brother, Gordon (Margaret) Heinks of Clearwater. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harm Heinks and a son-in-law, Steve Bergerson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m.on Tuesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church.
