John Mcnamara

John A. McNamara, age 89, of Le Sueur, formerly of the Henderson area, died on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in Le Sueur. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Henderson. Fr. Keith Salisbury will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, Friday, October 22 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Henderson, and also from Noon - 1:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Henderson with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 74. John was born on August 14, 1921 to Michael and Mary (Hensler) McNamara in Jessenland Twp., Sibley County, Minnesota. He grew up near the Jessenland area. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1939. He worked in St. Paul for a short time before joining the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired at the age of 59 from the Veterans Administration at Fort Snelling. He then moved to Belle Plaine and in the year 2002 he moved to the Le Sueur Nursing Home. John is survived by his brother, Mike (Mary Beth) McNamara of Eagan, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
