John Joseph Morrison, 95, passed away Monday night, April 22, at Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia surrounded by his family. Wake and funeral will be held on Saturday, April 27. Wake will be from 9-11 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic in Faxon Township, with funeral following beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. John was born on December 30, 1917, the fifth of seven children to Michael and Mary Bailey Morrison. After graduating High School, he was introduced to the love of his life, Helen Berger, when his brother Marty was dating Helen's sister Marie. The two couples eventually married and raised their families within one mile of each other. John was the third generation to farm the homestead in Faxon Township. His family was the center of his life. He also showed commitment to his community as he served many years on the Belle Plaine School Board, the Faxon Township Board, Minnesota Valley Creamery Board, Sibley County ASC Director, and the Belle Plaine Coop Board. He was a life-long member of St. Johns-Assumption Parish. He was an active farmer his whole life and milked his cattle until he was 82. In addition to his cattle, John was an avid horseman raising and showing many different breeds, but he would most like to be remembered for his beloved Clydesdales. After retiring from milking, he filled his time with helping his family on the farm, and transitioned his love of cattle to raising purebred Shorthorn Beef. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen; sons, Bill (Karen), Pat, Terry (Michelle); daughters, Colleen (Larry) Plonski, Judy (Rod) Petersen, and Jeannie (Ron) Savage; grandchildren, Jill Lawson, Jeff, Scott and Greg Morrison, Amy Stender, Tammy Gallentine, Molly Brown and Sadie Schmidt, Erin, Kelly and John Morrison, Carol Bauman, Michael and David Wentworth, Christine Tretter and Tricia Spletzer, Megan Hoffman, Melissa Hollnagel and Kyle Savage; great-grandchildren, Brad and Molly, Tyler, Ashley and Nick, Courtney and Kelsey, Ryan, Sam and Kasey, Cole, Sydney and Levi, Ella, James and Jesse, Jessica, Alyssa, Teresa and Natalie, Hailie, Alexia and RJ, Payton and Preston, Stephanie, Aliyah, Logan and Kiley, Maddie and Alton, and Finley; his sister, Lucille Biron of St. Paul.
