John Phillip Otting

John Phillip Otting, age 77 of Minnetonka, formerly of Le Sueur died on Thursday, October 17, 2024. The visitation will be at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, MN on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. concluding at 3:00 p.m. with a short memorial service. Celebration of John's life will continue at the Lake Front Bar and Grill in Lexington (35032 Clear Lake Lane, Le Center, MN.) from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on November 2, after the memorial service.  Burial at a later time, Mound Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN

John was born on April 1, 1947, in Gaylord, MN to Floyd and Georgia (Strehlow) Otting. He went to Le Sueur schools and graduated from Le Sueur High School. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He owned and operated Otting's Sport Shop with his Dad and brothers in Le Sueur for many years. After selling the business, he worked for Green Giant and later transferred to Silgan Containers in Shakopee, MN until his retirement in 2022.

John enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, motorcycles and anything to do with the outdoors. He occasionally enjoyed going to casinos and playing pull tabs with friends. John was always the lucky one. He had a good and full life.

John is survived by his partner of 25 years, Carol Holm of Minnetonka, MN. Carol's children; Todd Holm, Kory (Dawn) Holm, and Kurt Holm. Carol's grandchildren; Gabrielle, Nicholas, and Greta Holm. Sister Ramona Schlueter of Le Sueur, MN, Sister-in-law Joann Otting of Le Sueur, MN and Brothers Ron (Doris) Otting of Orange, CA and Dan (Susi) Otting of Le Sueur, MN. Former wife Cheryl Jones Otting.  Nieces and Nephews; Scott Schlueter, Brent (Amy) Schlueter, Steve (Tamara) Otting, Molly (Tony) Tellijohn, Katie (Chris) Gilbertson, Blake (Krista) Otting, and Kelsey (Adam) McConkey. And many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Otting, sister-in-law Mimi Otting, niece Rhonda VanDerlaske, and brother-in-law Allan Schlueter.
