John Edwin Ploetz

John Edwin Ploetz, age 84 of Belle Plaine, died on Saturday evening, July 26, 2025.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, MN.  The burial will be private in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN.

John was born on August 15, 1940, to Edwin and Grace (Christenson) Ploetz in Minneapolis, MN.  He grew up in Belle Plaine, MN and graduated from Belle Plaine High School.  John married Josephine Tupy on June 7, 1969, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli, MN.  John worked for many years in Belle Plaine as an insurance agent, he owned the Ploetz Insurance Agency in Belle Plaine for many years.  He was very active in Belle Plaine Rotary and was a charter member.  He was also involved with the Belle Plaine Chamber of Commerce and served on the City Council as well as the Mayor of Belle Plaine.  He enjoyed golfing, traveling with Josie and Friday night dinner gatherings with friends.  Recently, John became a grandfather to Henry Lee Ploetz, the two of them enjoyed their time together.

John is survived by his sons; Joseph (Heidi) Ploetz of Belle Plaine, MN, Jon (Amy) Ploetz of Cleveland, OH and his grandson, Henry Lee Ploetz.  Sister, Beverly (Roger) Delgehausen of Wayzata, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Josephine “Josie” in 2022.
