John M. Schmillen

John Milton Schmillen, age 85 of Belle Plaine and formerly of the Pequot Lakes area, died on December 17, 2013 at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine. Memorial Service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Reverend Ed Fredrich will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. John was born in St. James on July 30, 1928 to John and Ruth (Quist) Schmillen. On April 2, 1955 he married Nadine Johnson. They made their home in the Bloomington and Burnsville areas. John worked as a Vice President of First Bank of St. Paul for many years. Upon retirement, they moved to the Brainerd Lakes area and settled in Pequot Lakes. John was an avid gardener, loved golfing, fishing, hunting and sports. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nadine, in May of 2013. He is survived by his children, Deborah Taylor of Blaine, MN; Susan (Michael) Becht of Rapid City, SD; Robert (Jamee) West of Minnetrista, MN; Don (Liz) Schmillen of Lakeville, MN; 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren;
