Joseph H. Barlage, 83, of Belle Plaine, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Visitation will be Sunday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. There will be a KC prayer service at 12:45 p.m. with memorial service following at 1 p.m. with Deacon Bob Raleigh officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Vet's Club (221 N. Meridian St., Belle Plaine). He was born February 27, 1930 in New Richmond, WI to Henry and Edith (Payne) Barlage Joseph married Alice M. Boeckman in Jordan on February 26, 1949. He worked at various jobs in the Belle Plaine area including Minn Valley, Steffen Hardware and the Belle Plaine School System. He retired from his janitor position at the school in 1992 and spent many years enjoying activities at his hobby farm. He was a member of the Belle Plaine Knights of Columbus. Joseph is survived by his children, Gerry (Bob) Lattimore of Eden Prairie, Paul Barlage of Belle Plaine, Mary (Bryan) Johnson of Belle Plaine, George Barlage of Green Isle, Kathy (Joe) Voss of Belle Plaine; siblings, Ethel Westlund, Louie (Betty) Barlage, Chris Barlage, Rose (Tom) Tolley; sisters-in-law, Rachel Barlage, Frieda Barlage, June Barlage, Delores Stocker; brother-in-law, Mark (Evelyn) Boeckman; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; daughter, Susie Zellmann; son-in-law, Leon Zellmann; brothers, Leo, Harry, Lloyd, Edward, Mike, Jim and Tom; and sister, Ruth Buesgens.
