Joseph O. Voss

On June 10, 1965 Joseph Oliver Voss was welcomed into the world by parents Marvin and Genevieve (Jan) Voss and 3 older sisters. On Saturday November 9, 2013 at the age of 48 Joe finished his battle with cancer and passed away at the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice House in Chaska. A visitation will be held Friday November 15, 2013 at Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine from 4 to 8 pm. There will be a memorial service at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine on Saturday November 16, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the services at church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate the services. Joe was baptized & confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine MN. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and continued to work with his dad at the family auto salvage business. Joe continued to run the business after his father's death until March of 2011. Joe then worked for Jordan Transformer until his health wouldn't allow him to work. Joe has been a part of Arlington Raceway his entire life and spent many hours at the track racing as well as in his shop building & repairing the various vehicles he or his children raced. Joe was always there to lend a hand or a part to any racer that needed it. Joe married Kathy Barlage on August 27, 1983 and they were blessed with four children, a son Adam, a daughter Sarah, and twin daughters Kristin and Megan. Joe is survived by his wife of 30 years Kathy and his children Adam (Lindsey), Sarah (fiancé' Dave Moriarty), Kristin, Megan, and grandson Rylen Voss. He is also survived by sisters Sandra (Mark) Rassmussen and Schelly Schmitz. Sisters-in-law Geraldine (Robert) Lattimore, Mary (Bryan) Johnson; Brothers-in-law Paul Barlage & George Barlage. Nieces nephews aunts and uncles. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Genevieve Voss, Sister Lori Voss, Grandparents George (lefty) & Naomi Mendlik & Carl & Florence Voss. Brothers-in Law Roman Schmitz & Leon Zellmann, Sister-in-Law Susie Zellmann, Father and Mother-in-law Joe &Alice Barlage.
