Joyce Louise Butler

September 17, 1963 — October 18, 2025

Belle Plaine

Joyce Louise Butler, age 62 of Hope Residence, Belle Plaine, MN went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, October 18, 2025. The funeral service will be held at the Kolden Funeral Home Chapel in Belle Plaine, MN on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 1:00 P.M.  Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in The Lutheran Home Cemetery.

Joyce was born on September 17, 1963, to Joseph and Florence (Woodhams) Butler in Oak Park, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago).  The youngest of 7 (she loved to refer to herself as “the caboose”), she grew up in Oak Park. She attended William Beye Elementary School in Oak Park and Oak Park River Forest High School. She had a personality that was cheerful, warm, outgoing, loving, and effervescent as seen in her family, in her church, and to everyone she met. She loved music, she loved to sing, and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed a number of hobbies, including jigsaw puzzles, paint-by-number art, and punch needle work (creating many pillows, cushions and wall hangings).

As her brothers and sisters grew up and moved away, the home became too large for Joyce and her parents and they moved to a townhome in LaGrange, IL, where they lived until her father passed away. Joyce and her mother moved to a senior living facility in Elk River, MN. After her mother passed away, Joyce lived with her sister, Laura, for 5 years before becoming a resident at Hope Residence in Belle Plaine, MN in 2015.  Joyce enjoyed her new community at Hope, loved the residents, and had a sweet tooth for chocolate. She had a faithful testimony for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a wonderful example of a Christian woman to her family and to the residents and staff of Hope Residence.

She is survived by her siblings; Roger (Mary) Butler of Naperville, IL, Martha LaMarche of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Tim (Debbie) Butler of Bowling Green, Ohio and Laura (Duane) Ducommun of Anoka, MN, and by many nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters, Kathy and Ruth.
