Joyce Arlene Johnson

Joyce Arlene Johnson, age 76 of Belle Plaine, died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Brookdale of Eden Prairie. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Joyce was born on June 12, 1942 in Spencer, IA to Carl and Pearl (Fitsimmons) Madson. She graduated from Cornell High School, in Clay County Iowa in 1960. She continued her education by taking classes at Hennepin Technical School & Mankato State University. She married William Johnson in Webb, IA on August 31, 1962. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, but later divorced. Joyce worked for many years with local small businesses in the Belle Plaine area doing accounting, bookkeeping, and taxes. She was an avid horse lover, and was heavily involved with the local saddle club. She volunteered with meals on wheels, was Treasurer for her church, and served on the Oakwood Cemetery board. She is survived by her daughters, Wendi (Peter Fahey) Johnson of Belle Plaine, and Lori (Sam) Taylor of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Danielle (significant other, Brandon Heitz) Taylor of Belle Plaine, and Brandon Taylor of Belle Plaine; siblings, Grace Kunz of Kansas, and Darrel (Carole) Madson of Indiana; nieces and nephews; step grandchildren, Ashlee (Travis) Tomblin of Washington, and Jacob (Kayla) Taylor of Oregon; and step great grandchildren. Her parents precede her in death.
