Joyce Mary Weldon

Joyce Mary Weldon, age 88, of Belle Plaine died on May 31, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in New Prague, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Michael Kaluza and Fr. Roger Hessian will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Joyce was born on August 5, 1924 to James and Mary (Bachmann) Connelly in St. Thomas, MN. She grew up in St. Thomas. She attended country school and graduated from Le Sueur High School. She taught in country schools in Le Sueur, Scott and Sibley counties. She also substitute taught at local Catholic schools. She also taught religion. She was a member of the C.C.W. She also sold World Book Encyclopedias. She was a "Befriender". She delivered for meals on wheels and was a Eucharistic minister. She married Robert T. Weldon on September 25, 1948 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in St Thomas, MN. Joyce and Robert farmed in Blakeley Township until the early ‘70s and remained on the family farm until 1988 before moving into Belle Plaine. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1995 and son, Terrence in infancy. She is survived by her children, Ann Baumann of Belle Plaine, Tom Weldon of Eagan, Peggy (Jon) Schuette of Belle Plaine, Mary (Dale) Radanke of Prior Lake, William (Cindy) Weldon of Bloomington, Robert Jr. (Cathy) Weldon of Belle Plaine, Kevin Weldon of Belle Plaine, Katie (Kirk) Lowe of Walker, MN, Michael Weldon of Cordova, TN and Jane (Brent) Meyer of New Prague; foster child, Jane Luther of Oakdale; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Don) Farrell and sisters-in-law, Helen and Sheila Connelly.
