Kenneth W. Bird Sr.

December 28, 1947 — June 16, 2014

Kenneth W. Bird, 66 of Henderson, died on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in Le Sueur. Funeral service will be on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Centennial Lutheran Church in Henderson, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Friday. Military services by the Henderson Legion will follow at the church following the services. Interment will be at a later time at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Arlington Township, Sibley County. Rev. Robert Hines will officiate the services. Kenneth was born on December 28, 1947 on the family farm just north of Henderson to Edward and Anna (Fries) Bird. He grew up in the Henderson area and graduated from Henderson High School in 1965. He worked a short time before entering the United States Army in 1968 serving in Vietnam. He returned home in 1969 and married Connie Anderson on June 6, 1970 in Jordan, MN. He began work with Bongards' Creamery in January of 1970. He retired in 2009 due to failing health. He is survived by his wife; Connie. Children; Kenneth (Jesse) Bird of Henderson, MN; Keith (Dawn) Bird of Wakefield, Neb; Kim Bird of Henderson, MN & Kent (Hayley) Bird of Henderson, MN. Grandchildren; Alison, Caleb, Connor & Lucas Bird. Step-grandchildren; Toni Jones, Cameron Knight & Josh Krueger. Step-great-grandchildren; Ava Yeaton & Vanessa Snyder. Siblings; Willard Bird of Henderson, Paul (Sharon) Bird of Arlington, MN, Sharon Otto of Le Sueur, MN & Rosemary (Orville) Schauer of Green Isle, MN. Many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Otto and brother, LeRoy Bird.
