Kenneth E. Schultz

Kenneth E. Schultz of Rush River, West of Le Sueur passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011. Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 7, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur with Rev. Carl Bruihler presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will continue on Monday morning one hour prior to services at church. Interment with Military Honors by the Le Sueur Honor Guard will follow at Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur. Kenneth was born on June 13, 1927 to Ernest and Julia (Anderson) Schultz. He grew up in the Rush River area of Sibley County attending the Rush River Country School and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1944. He then attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota Agriculture School. Following his studies at the University of Minnesota, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during and after the Korean Conflict. After returning from the service he married Bernice Falk on Sept. 15, 1956 at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte, MN. The couple lived a short time in Winthrop before moving to Henderson Township, Sibley County in 1958 before moving back to the family farm at Rush River in 1988. Kenneth devoted his whole life to his wife, children and farming the family homestead at Rush River. Kenneth is survived by his wife Bernice; Children, Garry Schultz of Le Sueur, (Rush River), MN, Linda (Jon Segerstrom) Schultz of Cary, N.C., Ronald (Marie) Schultz of Le Sueur, MN, Sandra Schmidt of Le Sueur, MN and Robert (Lisa) Schultz of St. Peter, MN; Grandchildren, Nicole, Kara & Ryan Segerstrom, Jessica (Michael) Wills, Michael (Ashley) Schultz, Adam Schultz, Chelsea & Hannah Mathews, Krystalin (Ryan) Brockberg, Katalin, Kelsey, Kenneth Jr., Kaylin & Kole Schmidt. Great-grandchildren, Annabelle & Zechariah Brockberg, Drianna & Ellie Schultz; Sisters, Betty (Tom) Austin of Denver, Co. and Angeline Walker of St. Paul, MN. Preceded in death by his sister, Mavis Dresser and parents. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
