Kirk J. Loose

Kirk John Loose, age 63 of Cleveland, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Monday, February 10, 2025. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the American Legion in Le Center, MN from 1-4 P.M.

Kirk was born on December 21, 1961 in St. Peter to Milo and Carol (Rethwill) Loose. He grew up in Le Sueur and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1980. Throughout high school, he worked for Green Giant in Le Sueur. Following graduation, he married Geri Kahle at Zion United Church of Christ in 1982. Together they had two children, Lukas and Sadie, and would later divorce.

Kirk worked a number of jobs until he started with Le Sueur Inc. where he would work for 30 years. Upon leaving LSI he took a job at Diane’s Gourmet Desserts in Le Center, MN after a few years, he decided retirement was his next step in life.

Kirk was an avid outdoorsman, spending a lot of his time hunting, fishing, and gardening. Most of his time doing these activities, he did it with his dear best friend, Paul Hovland. Paul and Kirk were known to be inseparable at times since grade school.

He is survived by his children, Lukas (Annetta) Loose of Le Sueur, MN and Sadie Loose of Roseville, MN; life partner, Jean Hawkins of Cleveland, MN; bonus children, Melisa, T.J., Briana (Mike) and Laura; grandchildren, Jordana, Lydia, Logan and Ella Loose; bonus grandchildren, Aiden and Kamryn Hawkins, and Isabelle and Noah Sindahl; former wife, Geri (Kahle) Loose of Le Sueur, MN; brother, Kent (Pam Newhouse) Loose of Le Sueur, MN; sisters, Mary (Duane) Tiegs, Beth (Jay) Barrof, Gail McConkey, Lynn Rydberg, and sister-in-law Linda Loose.

Kirk is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glen, Gary and Eric Loose; niece, Zetta; and grandson, Landon Loose.
