Leander C. May

LeAnder "Andy" C. May, age 69 of Belle Plaine, died on Sunday morning, December 14, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will be on Friday, December 19, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Military honors by the Belle Plaine Veterans Honor Guard will be held in front of the church following the Mass. Interment will be at a later time in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine, MN. LeAnder was born on June 30, 1945 to Clarence and Dallas (Deutsch) May in St. Peter, MN. He grew up in the Tyrone Township area of Le Sueur County. He attended St. Anne's Catholic School in Le Sueur until 8th grade and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1963. He served in the United States Navy from 1963-1966. After his services in the Navy, he worked at the Le Sueur Creamery; Erkel Transfer in Le Center, MN; Scott County Annex in Jordan, MN; M.G. Waldbaum in Le Sueur, MN; Belle Plaine Block and Tile and Faribault Foods. He spent his last years of work with the Belle Plaine School District working maintenance and finally shuttling truck drivers for Canterbury Inn, a retired truck driver's dream. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. LeAnder married Joyce Hiles-Blades on April 20, 1985 at the Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine, MN. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Joyce; Daughters: Laura Benjamin of Shakopee, MN; Gwen (Luis) Guerra of Margate, FL; Audrey (Kevin) Mittelsteadt of Freeport, IL; Audra (Paul) Goebel of Burnsville, MN and Becky (Matt) Larsen of Le Center, MN. Grandchildren: Katina, Alastair, Ryan, Nicholas, Maura, Adalynn, Gabriella, Broderick, Abbie and Tara. Great-Grandchildren: Zoe, David and Luke. Siblings: Judy LaFramboise of Le Center, MN; LeRoy (Joan) May of Le Sueur, MN and Robert (Shirley) May of Omaha, NE. Mother-in-law, Naomi Hiles. Brother-in-Law, Jerry (Shelia) Swan of Le Center, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Kevin and Zack; Sister Jane Swan; 3 Brothers-in-Law and Father-in-Law.
