Leo J. Scheffler

Leo J. Scheffler, age 89 of Henderson died at the Minnesota Valley Health Center on Monday morning, Oct. 26, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 29, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Henderson, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 28, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, MN from 4-8 p.m. There will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning at the funeral home in Le Sueur from 8:00 a.m. until about 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Henderson, MN. Leo was born on June 30, 1926 to George and Anna (Jacques) Scheffler in Helena Township, Scott County, MN. He went to rural Scott County Schools and Shakopee High School before entering the United States Navy and serving at the end of World War II. After returning home, he spent some time in school before going to the Country of Morocco to perfect his trade in carpentry. He spent two years in Morocco and ended with a 3 month tour of Europe. When he returned home he met and married Mary Skluzacek at Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale, MN on June 25, 1955. The couple lived in Shakopee for 20 years where he was a Union Carpenter. The family moved to Henderson, MN in 1976. He enjoyed family, fishing, farming and nature. He is survived by his wife Mary; Children; Lucy (Bob) Meyer of Henderson, Anita (Dann) Olson of Henderson, George (Paula) Scheffler of Henderson, Joe (Rachel) Scheffler of Henderson, MN, Pauline (Russ) Arnst of Henderson, Fran (Jim) Tiegs of Henderson & Bonnie Scheffler of Henderson, MN. 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. Siblings; Joe (Evelyn) Scheffler of New Prague, MN, Ralph (Pat) Scheffler of Shakopee, MN; Sr. Mary Lucy of St. Paul, MN; Matt (Charlene) Scheffler of Elko~New Market, MN, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and a granddaughter, Kailey Olson, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mary (Leo's wife) will be attending the funeral mass on Thursday.
