Leon “Lon” Charles Astleford
June 13, 1936 – December 31, 2025
Leon “Lon” Charles Astleford of Lakeville, entered into God’s Kingdom on December 31, 2025 and was joyfully reunited with our mother and the love of his life, Elaine Summa Astleford. He was 89 years old. With strength, courage, and deep resolve, Lon faced a 2½ year journey with multiple myeloma. Lon is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and David Gfroerer, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Gail Astleford, and daughter Eileen Mumford; grandchildren Elizabeth (Jacob) Schlee, Kristina (Michael) Hopper, Michael (Kiscila) Mumford, Alexis Mumford (Behdad Sadeghi), London (Cody) Lind, and Nolan Mumford (Emily Johnson); and great-grandchildren Harrison, Ellie, Emma, Remington, Dawson, Maverick, Layla, Nicholas, Lily, Caspar, Valerie, Victoria, and Elliott. Lon was a man of unshakable faith and the best father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His gift for storytelling was unmatched, and his remarkable memory for historical details never ceased to amaze those around him. He was generous to his core, always placing the needs of others before his own. Lon loved God, his family, his country, music, golf, and football. He will be forever loved and missed by his devoted family and countless friends.
A Celebration Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Berean Baptist Church, 309 CR 42 East, Burnsville, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. In recognition of Lon’s service as an Army veteran, burial with military honors will take place at 2PM at Oak Hill Cemetery.
