Leon Curtis Glazier, 79, Le Sueur, passed away peacefully on Nov 1, 2017 at MN Valley Health Center following a recent health setback. Leon was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his quick wit and lively story-telling, and was immensely devoted to his own family, extended family, and many friends. His kind and gentle nature influenced anyone he met along life's path. Family gatherings and social occasions were always a priority. Leon relished his own children's and grandchildren's academic, athletic, music and art achievements. He was a passionate sports fan of the LSH Giants, Golden Gophers, and all of Minnesota's professional sports teams. Leon was an avid golfer and member of the Le Sueur Country Club since 1967. He also enjoyed bowling on the KRBI bowling team, and served as Le Sueur Bowling Club Secretary for 14 years and President for several years. Leon was inducted into the Le Sueur Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2000. He was also a member of St Anne's Catholic Church and the St Anne's Men's Society. Leon was born Jan. 2, 1938 in Alden, MN to Laura (Larson) and Ellis Glazier. At age 5, his family moved to Wells, MN. He "graduated" (as he always said) from kindergarten in 2 weeks, and attended country school before graduating from Wells HS in 1955. He participated in many clubs and sports, and was especially gifted in math and all sciences. Leon entered the US Army in 1956, serving throughout the US and a deployment to Germany ("with Elvis," as he liked to share!). He was honorably discharged after 3 years enlisted service and additional 3 years Reserve. Leon attended the University of Minnesota and Mankato State University, graduating with a BS in Math and Science in 1963. Working as a flagman for DelMonte Cannery in the summer of 1963, Leon heroically raced into the burning wreckage of a crop duster to rescue the pilot who inadvertently struck high-voltage utility lines. While visiting the recovering pilot in Naeve Hospital, Leon met the pilot's student nurse, Doris. Leon and Doris Staloch were married a year later, on Nov 7, 1964 at St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Albert Lea. Leon taught high school math and physics in Morton, MN. He moved his young family to Henderson before settling in Le Sueur in 1971. He was employed as a computer programmer at Green Giant for 17 yrs. He commuted to Pillsbury in Mpls for the next 2 years, but also appreciated that time with family came first. So, he began teaching computer science at Mankato Technical College (now SW Technical College) and loved attending his children's extracurricular school events. After teaching, Leon worked in IT for Scholarship of America in St. Peter. He was then self-employed at Glazier Resources (Honeywell, Mpls) during the Y2K conversion before earning his well-deserved retirement in 1999. Leon is survived and loved by his spouse of 53 years, Doris Glazier of Le Sueur; son Alan (late wife Teresita, April 2016) and their daughter, Faith Smith (Eric) of Tucson, AZ; daughter Monica Glazier (Rohan Allwood) of Blythewood, SC; and daughter Valerie Glazier (Steve Ginal) of Eden Prairie, MN. Affectionately teased as "silly and persnickety Grandpa", he was VERY much adored and is deeply missed by grandchildren; Carter Ginal (9), Kara Allwood (8) and Connor Ginal (6). Leon is met in Heaven by his son and first golf partner, Craig Glazier, formerly of Brooklyn Park, MN, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in June 2016. He is also survived by sisters-in-law-Virginia Glazier, Leona Yokiel, Linda Sonnek (Norbert) all of Wells, MN and Alice Peterson (Les) of Windsor, CO as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Arnold, siblings-in-law David Staloch, George Yokiel, Anita Staloch, and Roger Staloch, daughter-in-law Teresita Glazier, and beloved son Craig Glazier. Memorial Mass will be on Friday, November 10, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Anne's Church, Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov 9, 2017, from 4-7pm at Kolden Funeral Services, 529 Turril Street, Le Sueur, MN, 56058. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass at St. Anne's Church. Burial will be with Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN. Lunch to follow at St. Anne's School.
