Leon Howard Snow

Leon “Lee” Howard Snow, age 93 of Le Sueur, MN died on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Oak

Terrace Senior Living of Le Sueur. Memorial service will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023,

at 2:00 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur. Visitation will be at the church that day

from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Mound Cemetery in Le

Sueur, MN. Refreshments and fellowship to follow in the church social hall. Rev. Jan Crissinger

will officiate the services.

Leon was born on May 6, 1930, to Howard and Myrtle (Little) Snow in Le Sueur, MN. He grew

up on the family farm (aka, the “North 40”, known today as Park Knolls) and graduated from Le

Sueur High School in 1948. Following high school, he was drafted into the United States Army,

serving two years (6 months in Germany) from 1951 – 1953. Following his military service, he

married Mary Ann Yowell in Herman, Nebraska on June 21, 1953. The couple lived and farmed

in the Le Sueur area. In addition to farming, Lee also worked at Le Sueur Inc. for a brief time,

and for many years at the Green Giant Ag. Dept. In his retirement he worked part-time for

Sanofi Animal Health in Le Sueur.

Lee was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of Le Sueur, before its closing in January

2018, after which he joined the Zion United Church of Christ. He enjoyed working on the family

farm with his son and grandchildren—baling hay, cutting wood, riding horse, and raising cattle.

After moving to town in 2015, Lee took up walking the streets of Le Sueur everyday whether

rain or snow or sleet or heat.

Lee’s first wife, Mary Ann died on March 6, 1982. He later married Elizabeth Corey McHutchison

on September 10, 1983. Elizabeth preceded him in death on October 16, 2002. Lee married

JoAnn Boldt Snow in 2005 and later divorced.

Leon is survived by his children: Randy (Julie) Snow of Le Sueur, MN and daughter, LeAnn Snow

Flesher of Oakland, CA. Children through marriage, Mike (Deb) McHutchison and Meg (J.C.

Schlechter) McHutchison. Grandchildren: Eldri Snow, Jack (Stacia) Snow, John (Keri)

McHutchison and Corey McHutchison. Great-grandchildren: Zayden, Broxson and Marlowe

Snow and Lena Snow-Staupe; and many nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wives: Mary Ann and Elizabeth; and siblings: Harold

Little Snow, William Brown Snow, Ruth Irene Tellijohn, Helen Catherine Heath and Raymond

George Snow; and a daughter by marriage, Diane McHutchison.

The family expresses deep appreciation for the loving care given to Lee by the staff at Oak

Terrace Senior Living of Le Sueur and St. Croix Hospice.

Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to the Le Sueur Food Shelf, Habitat for Humanity of

South Central, MN or to the Leon Howard Snow Scholarship at the Berkeley School of Theology
