.Leonard "Denny" A. Meger, age 95 of New Prague, formerly of Le Sueur, MN died on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Mala Strana Nursing Home in New Prague, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be on Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. There will be an 8:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary at the funeral home on Thursday night. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until about 10:45 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN. Fr. Andrew Stueve will officiate the services. "Denny" was born July 3, 1921 to Paul and Julia (Plonske) Meger in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County. He grew up in the Derrynane Township area and attended country schools. Denny farmed with the family for a short time before entering the United States Army during World War II and served in the European Theatre earning several honors and medals. He married Rita Ann Wacker on June 10, 1952 at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg, MN. After his marriage he purchased a farm in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur county where Rita Ann and he raised their family of 10 children. In 1983 they were named the LeSueur County Farm Family of the Year, nominated by the county extension staff. Denny was a member of the Knights of Columbus, proud of his military service and enjoyed his time with his family. He is survived by his children; Juliann (Michael) Russo of College Station, TX, Colleen Juba of Dell Rapids, S.D, Margie (Dennis) Anderson of Slayton, MN, Joan (Dr. George) Jay of Morris, MN, Ron (September) Meger of Le Sueur, MN, Carol (Greg) Wells of Poughquag, New York, Leonard Meger of Eden Prairie, MN, Anthony (Patrice) Meger of Stillwater, MN, Jerry (Mary Sue) Meger of Belle Plaine, MN and Christopher (Lisa) Meger of Apple Valley, MN. 36 Grandchildren and 19 Great-grandchildren. Siblings, Richard (Gert) Meger of Belle Plaine, MN, Teresa McNamara of Bloomington, MN and Patsy Procter of Brooklyn Park, MN. Sisters-in-Law; Mary Meger of Prior Lake, MN, Maureen Wacker of Little Falls, MN and Frieda Wacker of New Prague, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Ann, (1991) and infant son, Gerard; siblings, Paul, George, Francis, Jimmy, Cecelia Geisen and older brother that passed away as a young child.
