Leonard "Bud" Gisvold

January 7, 1940 — December 15, 2013

Leonard P. "Bud" Gisvold, Jr., age 73 of Le Sueur, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home. Memorial service will be Thursday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Interment will be Mound Cemetery in the Spring. Bud was born on January 7, 1940 to Leonard P. and Lillian (Fagerlin) Gisvold in Minneapolis. He graduated from Washburn High School in 1957. He married Joyce Grinley on March 24, 1962. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1962 with a Bachelors Degree. He graduated from Mankato State University with his Masters Degree in 1971 and he then graduated from Wisconsin School of Banking. He worked in banking his entire life starting out as an assistant cashier at Valley State Bank. He became President and CEO of First Farmers and Merchants National Bank in 1995 and retired in 2003. Upon retirement he worked at Lee Investment Plus as an Investment Executive. Bud served on the City Council of Le Sueur, HRA and EDA Committees. He was a 50 year member of the Le Sueur Lions Club and longtime member of the Masonic Lodge. Bud was an avid reader. He loved the outdoors and especially being at Leech Lake in Walker. He enjoyed being with family and friends. Bud is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce; children, Connie (Ronald) Nyquist of Brooklyn Park and James (Marna) Gisvold of New Hope; granddaughters, Amanda Nyquist and Jacalyn and Katelyn Gisvold; brother, Robert (Patty) Gisvold of Wayzata; sister, Susan (Donald) Young of Northbrook, IL and nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. Bud is preceded in death by his parents and son, Dean in 1988. Memorials preferred to the Le Sueur Public Library, Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation or Hospice of Le Sueur
