Lonnie was born on September 26th, 1976, in Hallock, MN; he was the son of John and Lori Bergh. As a young child, Lonnie played hockey in the Hallock Youth hockey program and continued through high school. He graduated from Kittson Central in Hallock, MN in 1995. Lonnie loved to golf! In the summer, you could find him working or swinging his clubs at Two River Golf Course. After High School, he went on to attend Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD where he met his former wife, Cassie. They lived in South Dakota for five years before packing up and moving west to Washington, and eventually back in Minnesota, where their daughter, Sophia was born. Lonnie worked for Schneiderman’s Furniture Company for many years. He was proud of his job, and it was a bonus when his day consisted of delivering furniture to a local celebrity!
Lonnie lived a life filled with joy, connection and deep commitment to his family and community. This all came together in the Spring of 2022 when Lonnie met Mindi and her girls. Eventually marrying in September of 2024, Mindi and Lonnie shared a beautiful bond, finding joy in simple pleasures like playing board games, DIY projects (many against his will), card games and taking road trips together. Some of Lonnie’s most cherished moments were dedicated to volunteering with Girl Scouts, supporting Sophia, Lily and their troop. You could always find Lonnie’s familiar and friendly face at the Belle Plaine BBQ days Girl Scout booth.
Beyond his family, Lonnie had a deep passion for helping others. He dedicated his time and energy to the residents of Hope, a long-term care facility. He found great fulfillment in working with the residents, always offering a listening ear, a helping hand and bringing a sense of warmth and companionship to their days. After Lonnie’s passing, one of the residents said he “called God to ask for Him to send Lonnie back to us”. This is a true testament for the compassion and significant difference he made in all of our lives.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Mindi; daughter Sophia and stepdaughters Emma and Lily; mother; Lori Bergh; grandmother, Dorothy Bergh; brother, Casey (Holly) Bergh; sister, Lindsay (Brett) Lindgren; nephew, Kaden; and nieces, Taylor, Megan, Afton, & Ivy; and many loving aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Bergh; maternal grandparents, Leonard & Jean Potrament; and paternal grandfather, Larry Bergh.
