Loretta J. Straub, age 72 of ScottsBluff, Nebraska passed away at her home on February 19, 2013. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur. Rev. Luke Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 28 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time at the church. Loretta was born on October 10, 1940 in St Peter, MN to Milton and Doris Wood-Lehnert. She was a graduate of Le Sueur High School in 1958. Following graduation, Loretta attended nurses training in South Dakota and married her fellow high school classmate, Tim Straub. Through their years together, they lived in Mexico City, Michigan and in the Le Sueur area. Loretta cared deeply about people. She was employed as a nurse for many years in Le Sueur, having worked for both the Minnesota Valley Memorial Hospital and the nursing home. Years later when her children were grown, she returned to her beloved Black Hills in South Dakota. There she enjoyed various jobs in sales until she retired. Loretta had a deep love for her faithful canine companions, listening to country music, gardening, reading, playing a good game of zilch and conversation over a cup of coffee, cold beer or glass of wine. She was especially passionate throughout her life about horses and loved riding. She enjoyed a friendly game of scrabble and was known for soundly beating us all. Above all, Loretta valued her many lifelong friends and her dearly loved family. So many who know Loretta will remember her for her sparkling smiling eyes and her endearing laugh. Loretta is survived by her five children: Michelle Burns (Timothy), Steven Straub (Cherie), Renee Tousley (Bob), Tony Straub (Tenille), Mara Rayner (Brian) and 11 grandchildren, her siblings: Ivan (Doreen) Lehnert, Patty (Dick) Symonds, Fred (Mary) Lehnert, Barb (Gerry) Ramaker, Judy (Dave) Hall, Dale (JeanAnn) Lehnert and Bruce (Brenda) Lehnert and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Milton Lehnert and her ex-husband, Tim Straub. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary or the Alzheimer's Association.
