Lorraine C. Buesing

Lorraine C. Buesing, age 84 of Arlington, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Oak Terrace Health Care Center of Gaylord. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26th at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Lorraine was born on October 6, 1925 in Kelso Township, Sibley County to Herbert and Emma (Schmidt) Thies. She attended District 9 rural schools through the eighth grade and then went to and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1943. Lorraine also completed one year of business school in Minneapolis. After college she worked for a year in Minneapolis, and then the Sibley County Welfare Office from 1946 - 1948. On June 6, 1948 she married Vernon Buesing at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord. The couple farmed in Kelso Township from 1948 to Vernon's death on September 28, 1977. Lorraine left the farm and moved to Arlington yet that same year. From 1977 - 1989 she worked part time for the City of Arlington in the city office. Lorraine was a former member of the Kelso Extension Club, Arlington Good Samaritan Auxiliary, Peace Lutheran Guild, and was a past treasurer of Peace Lutheran Church. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards and her various travels. She is survived by her daughter; Judith Ann (Steven) Rex of Shingle Springs, CA., grandchildren; Christopher and Sarah Rex, and sister; Delores (Harold) Jackson of Gaylord. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents and husband; Vernon.
