Lucille Eue

Lucille Eileen Eue, 95, formerly of Le Sueur, died Friday, August 8, 2014, at Grace Care Center Cypress in Houston, Texas. She was born in Delevan, New York on March 21, 1919, to Mearl and Inez (Lowe) Weaver, Lucille completed her training as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and served as a nurse in the United States Army. She married Ellsworth Eue on October 24, 1942 at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland. The couple spent much of the next 45 years in Le Sueur, Minnesota, where Ellsworth worked in research and development for the Green Giant Company and Lucille was active in many civic, social and volunteer activities. She worked as an office nurse for Green Giant, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the First Presbyterian Church, and served as county chair for the March of Dimes. A charter member of the Minnesota Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, she taught aides their first classes when the hospital opened. In 1986, she was honored as the state's outstanding volunteer by the Minnesota Planning Association and the Minnesota chapter of the American Planning Association for her work with the Le Sueur city and county planning and zoning commissions. The couple retired to Houston in 1988. An avid bridge player and accomplished knitter, Lucille enjoyed following the Twins and Vikings, and later the Astros and Texans. She is survived by her four children: William, Houston, and his wife, Ching; Nancy Wilson, Minneapolis; Mary Ann Bojko, Oconomowoc, Wisc., and her husband Bruce; and John, Easthampton, Mass.; as well as her sister Lorraine Maher and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur; arrangements are through Kolden Funeral Service.
