Lucille M. Neumann, age 91 of Belle Plaine and formerly from LeSueur died on Saturday, January 07, 2012 at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine. She was born on September 19, 1920 in Jessenland Township, Sibley County to John and Mary (Haley) Bertrang. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Jessenland. Her mother passed away when she was 2 ½ years old and then lived with relatives and then a friend of her mother's until her father married Lucy Chevalier when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1938 and during high school worked as a part time telephone operator in Henderson. She continued working at the telephone office full time after high school for a couple of years. She then worked as a telephone operator for the Green Giant Company in LeSueur. On November 2, 1944 she married Clarence Neumann at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Watertown, Minnesota. During their married life they lived in Belvidere, Illinois, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and LeSueur, MN. While in Beaver Dam, she was a manager of a 3 Sister's Store until they moved to LeSueur. She loved to play bridge and was in several bridge clubs. She was a life-time member of MVHC Hospital Auxiliary and a member of Grace Lutheran Ladies Guild. She enjoyed going with her husband to auctions where antique glassware and Hummels were available for sale. Lucille is survived by three sisters-in-law, Luella Neumann of Phoenix, AZ, Doris Neumann of Boulder, CO and Betty Neumann of Mayer, Minnesota as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, parents and step-mother. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2011 at 11 a. m. at Grace Lutheran Church in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
