Luella Kistner

Luella Kistner, age 78 of Arlington passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at her home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Luella Wilhelmina Kistner was born on November 22, 1932 in Norwood to Henry and Emma (Bongard) Schmidt. She was baptized on December 18, 1932 at the family home by Rev. Rapp. Luella was confirmed on April 14, 1946 at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Bongard, Mn. by Rev. Oppermann. Luella attended school in District #28 and 26 and also attended and graduated from Central High School in Norwood Young America. On June 5, 1954 she and Orville W. Kistner were married at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Bongard, Mn. by Rev. Franzmeier. Luella worked in her earlier years for First National Bank in Minneapolis and was always busy as a homemaker on the farm. Luella truly loved living on the farm and kept busy with gardening, especially her raspberry patch. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing and quilting. Luella volunteered her time working at the Treasure Haus in New Ulm. She is survived by her daughter; Vicky (Scott) Singlestad of Waseca, grandchildren; Michelle (Craig) Baxter, Michael Singlestad and Kristy Singlestad, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Harold Wendorf of Bayport, Cordella (Maynard) Husfeldt of Gaylord and Delores Jochum of Glencoe and nieces and nephews. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister; Marilyn Wendorf.
