Lyle Victor Schultz, age 71, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 29, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 2, 1944 in Belle Plaine Township, Scott County to Victor and Rose (Laabs) Schultz. He enjoyed growing up on the farm and was active in FFA. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and worked for Shakopee Ford and attended Dunwoody Institute for automotive mechanics. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and served mostly in Washington, DC in the Presidential Honor Guard and at Arlington National Cemetery. After his honorable discharge he married Carol Will on April 26, 1969 at Zion United Methodist Church in Lydia, Minnesota. They lived in Jordan, Minnesota for many years where Lyle worked at Wolf Motors, retiring in 2007. He was a community-minded person who served on the Jordan City Council and also for the Jordan Fire Department for over 20 years. He was also very active in the Jordan United Methodist Church for 40 years. In recent years they became members of St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine and moved to Belle Plaine in 2014. He was currently the Commander of the Legion Club in Belle Plaine. Survivors include his wife, Carol; Sons, Robert and his partner, Andrew Engelhart of Fridley and David and his wife, Janell of Prior Lake. 2 Grandchildren, Megan and Nathan Schultz and Sisters-in-law & Brothers-in-law, Marcella and Charlotte Schultz, Jean Weiss, Jerry (Becky) Will & Dianne (Ken) Hartman as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pearl (Lester) Bruesehoff and her first husband, Arvid Haas and brothers, Gerald and John Schultz. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Rev. Mark Johnson, officiating. Interment, with military honors by the Belle Plaine Honor Guard, will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 1 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
