Mae Doreen Frost Schwartz

January 19, 1913 — May 28, 2013

Mae Doreen Frost Schwartz, age 100, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at her home in Savannah, Georgia. Born to Frank and Linda Selina ("Lena") Frost in Adrian, Minnesota, on January 19, 1913, she was raised by her parents in Le Sueur, Minnesota, with older brother Ed Frost. In 1934, Mae married William ("Bill") Schwartz. She gave birth to two sons, James ("Jim") in 1936 and Darrell in 1940, and the family resided on the historic Schwartz farm in St. Peter, Minnesota, along the banks of the Minnesota River. In 1942, the family moved to California, where Bill worked in the shipyards during World War II. After the war, they returned to farming in St. Peter for the next decade and then moved back to California to work. After Bill's retirement in 1975, the couple resided in Escondido, California. They finally returned home to Minnesota in 1985, living in Le Sueur until Bill's death in 1999. She lived briefly with each of her sons, first with Jim in California and then with Darrell in Colorado, before moving to Savannah in 2006. Throughout her life, Mae was a skilled card player, an avid popcorn eater and a fan of Major League Baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins. During their 65-year marriage, Mae and Bill traveled the United States extensively by car, visiting nearly every state. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill and brother Ed Frost of Le Sueur. Mae is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Betty Schwartz of Newbury Park, California, Darrell and Joey Schwartz of Savannah, along with five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and extended family and friends across the country. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 21, 10:00 A.M. at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur with burial at nearby Mound Cemetery.
