Margaret H. Grahn

Margaret H. Grahn, age 90 of LeSueur passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at home with her family at her side. Memorial services will be held on March 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Internment, at a later date, will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. She was born on February 25, 1927 in Nicollet, Minnesota to Leo and Rachel (McMahan) Hiniker. She graduated from Northfield High School and married Curtis Grahn on April 24, 1946 in Northfield, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis, Bloomington, New Prague and then retired in Merrifield, Minnesota. In 1999 they moved to LeSueur to be closer to family and friends. Margaret was a renowned artist and had a passion for painting for over 50 years. When she moved to Merrfied she joined the Cross Lake Art Association. Some of her greatest joys were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her fabulous sense of humor, her love of music and creative spirit drew friends, family & neighbors to her. She was always a forward thinker and journeyed through life with an open mind and heart. After moving to LeSueur she founded the Scarlet Ladies of the Valley and was the Queen Mum of this Red Hat Organization. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Health System Hospice, 1025 Marsh St, Mankato, MN 56001 She is survived by her daughters; Cher Collins of Northfield; Pamela (Mark) Novak of Janesville; Sheila (Allan) Callander of Minnetonka; Janelle (Al) Roring of Savage; Kristen (Douglas) Spaeth of Chaska and Laurel (Michael) Brummund of Henderson. Grandchildren: Shani, Patrice, Jake, Meg, Alana, Adam, Kate, Nick, Max, Sam, Garrett, Makie and 15 Great-grandchildren. Siblings: Bette Swain of Irvine, CA; Alice Sacco of Fridley; Ben Hiniker of Owatonna and Janet (Curt) Eichers of Mankato; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis and her brother, Robert Hiniker.
