Margaret Ann Welch

Margaret S. Welch, age 88 of Le Sueur died at the Autumn Grace Living Center on Saturday, November 6, 2010 . There will be a memorial visitation on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur from 5 to 7:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m Interment will be in Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur at a later date. Memorials are preferred. Margaret was born on June 23, 1922 to Maynard & Gladys (Kitchen) Swanson in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Galesburg, Ill and graduated from Monmouth Parochial High School. She later graduated from Knox College in Illinois. She married John "Jack" Welch on May 1, 1948 in Galesburg. The couple moved to Le Sueur in 1948 where Margaret was a homemaker and mother her entire life. She was very active in the Le Sueur Country Club, P.T.A, Le Sueur Nursery School, former Elder of the Presbyterian Church, Hospital Aux, and Friends of the Library. She volunteered a lot of time with Meals on Wheals and Gardenview Nursing Home in Le Sueur. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Meg" (Andy) Johnson of Le Sueur, MN Son, John L. Welch of Medford, Oregon Grandchildren; Andrea Welch, Rome, NY, and Nicole (Nate) Swan and great-grandson, Jack from Medford, OR and grandson, Tyler Johnson of New Ulm, MN. Sister-in-law, Ginny Swanson and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1989 and her brother, Sam R. Swanson in 2003 and 3 infant children.
