Maria L. Mercado

Maria Lane Mercado, age 52 of Belle Plaine, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee. She had fought a hard battle with Multiple Myeloma after being diagnosed with it in September of 2017.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 20 at the Kolden Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Maria was born on June 5, 1967 in Madison, WI.  She lived most of her life between Texas and Minnesota. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and watching her grandchildren play. On an average Sunday you could find Maria watching her favorite football team the Minnesota Vikings. She also enjoyed visiting the Casino on any given day.

Maria is survived by her children, Johnny (Anna) Mercado, Jesse Mercado, Consuelo Mercado, Lupita Mercado, and Valerie Mercado (Sergio Silvia); 26 grandchildren; siblings, Benjamin (Gloria) Mercado, Guadalupe (Michelle) Lopez, Matilde Soria (Jesus Perez), and Raquel Soria (Christian Moreno); and step-father, Juan Lopez.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Consuelo Soria.
