Marian J. Giesen

Marian J. Giesen, age 84 of Green Isle, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her home in Green Isle. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10 at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Green Isle. Fr. Jerry Paulson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, and also one hour prior to service time on Thurs. at the church. Interment will be in St. Brendan's Catholic Cemetery in Green Isle. Marian was born on November 3, 1926 to William and Mary (Snorek) Bisek in New Prague. She grew up in New Prague. She married Melvin Giesen on June 17, 1948 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. They later moved to the Green Isle area. Her family was the joy of her life and she worked hard as a wife and a mother to 17 wonderful children. Marian is survived by her 14 children, Mary (John) Sylwester of Minneapolis, MN, Mike (Sharon) Giesen of Belle Plaine, MN, Maury (Dawn) Giesen of Henderson, MN, Vic Giesen of Green Isle, MN, Jerome (Jayne) Giesen of Belle Plaine, MN, Carol (Neil) Skiba of Stacy, MN, Allan (Robin) Giesen of Arlington, MN, Ruth (Roger) Kruger of Hayfield, MN, Polly (Andy) McCullough of Houston, Texas, Matt (Jan) Giesen of Arlington,MN, Jan (Barry) Burkhartzmeyer of West Linn, Oregon, Nick (Larysa) Giesen of Waconia, MN, Andy (Teresa) Giesen of Glencoe, MN, and Amy (Chad) Molva of Norwood Young America, MN; 34 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; 2 sons, Martin William and Martin Matthias; and daughter, Ann Giesen.
