Marie Rosine Crosby

Marie Rosine (Rose) Thelemann Crosby, 92, passed away December 15, 2013 at the LeSueur Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church in LeSueur, MN on Wednesday, December 18 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Sara Hein officiating. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery, LeSueur, MN She was born Nov. 20, 1921 in Tyrone Township and was the fifth of seven children of Henry A. and Ida Augusta (Braun) Thelemann. She was baptized Dec. 6, 1921 and confirmed April 14, 1935 at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Dresselville by the Rev. Otto G.A. Eyrich. She graduated from LeSueur country school in 1939 then attended Mankato Teachers College graduating with a Teaching Certificate in 1941. She taught at the country school in District 56, LeSueur Co. for two years. On June 8, 1943 she was united in marriage to Cyril W. Crosby. Three sons, Clinton, Steve and Gary were born to them and raised on the family farm in Blakeley Township. In 1981, they retired to LeSueur. They were married for 60 years. In 2012, Marie moved into LeSueur Assisted Living. After her marriage, she became a member of St. Paul's United Church in Henderson for 39 years and gave her time most notably in the Women's Guild and the Sunday School. In 1982 she became a member of the Presbyterian Church in LeSueur, again, devoting much time to volunteering. She was a farmer's wife, homemaker, quilter, gardener, grandmother, piano player, and loved a good game of cards, 500 in particular. She is survived by Clinton (Carolyn) Crosby of Apple Valley and family: Kathleen McDougall, Amy Rood, Karen Bradley, Laura Hayes. Steve (Judy) Crosby of Delano and family: Bill and Daryl Doering. Gary (Lynn) Crosby of Belle Plaine and her grandsons Brandon, Travis (Molly) and Douglas Crosby. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cyril 2003, her parents and all of her brothers and sisters: Marvin Thelemann, Vernon Thelemann, Dorothy Huber, Alice Gehrke, Ivan Thelemann and little Jeanette Thelemann.
