Marilyn Ann Erickson, 86, passed away peacefully on 12/29/23, at Oak Terrace, in LeSueur, after suffering with Alzheimer’s for many years. Marilyn was born on 06/06/1937 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Lynn and Ethel Espeseth. She grew up on the family farm in Benson, Minnesota . A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 9-11 A.M. at the Gustavus Arboretum in St. Peter, Minnesota.
After graduating high school in Benson, she attended Gustavus Adolphus College, earning a degree in social work. She later went on to earn her master’s degree in media/tech. While attending college at GAC, she met Darrell Erickson, and they were married in 1960. They settled in LeSueur.
Marilyn worked briefly as a social worker and then stayed at home to raise a family. She returned to the workforce when her children were older and taught in Montgomery/Lonsdale for several years.
She was very active in the community and enjoyed book club, bridge club, singing in the church choir as well as the community choir, the Notables. She, along with her friends, Karen Mueller, and Marlys Olson, founded Treasures in Town.
She will be sadly missed by children Becky Erickson, Terri Gartner and companion, Rod Umbreit, and John Erickson; grandchildren Joseph (Tanya) Gartner, Jamie Gartner and companion, Fidencio Flores, and Andrew (Katie) Erickson; great-grandchildren Gavin and Grace Gartner, Hayli, Liliana, Emmalee, Erik, and Nicolas Flores, and Addison, Blakely, and Charlotte Erickson; brothers David (Karen), Randall, and Kevin Espeseth; sisters-in-law Carolyn Espeseth and Beverly (Gerald) Haremza.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; sister Sandra Peterson and brother Robert Espeseth. Her presence lives on through those who knew and loved her.
