Marion Marie (Schwartz) Vos Godwin, age 82 of Arlington passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 5 th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington with Msgr. Eugene Lozinski celebrating the Mass. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery immediately following the service. Lunch will follow the burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church social hall.

Marion was born on February 19, 1939 in Dahlgren Township, Carver County to Henry and Anna Schwartz. She was baptized and confirmed at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. Marion raised 12 children with her husband Nicholas “Tony” Vos on a farm near Green Isle. Marion was a housewife for years and then started working parttime at Norwood Young America Corporation doing data entering at home and later working fulltime at NYA Corp. Marion divorced in 1992 and remarried in 2000 to William Godwin.

Marion will be remembered for her strong German character, great bookkeeping skills, home cooking (12 batches of cookies and many loaves of bread every Saturday), as “Mama Vos” in the TEC community, being part of the “Clown Ministry”, crocheting many blankets especially for donating many baby blankets to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, former President of the Sibley County Chapter of Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life (MCCL), completing Word Search and coloring puzzles.

She loved tending to her flowers and plants, watching the Olympics on TV, especially ice skating, The Walton’s, Little House on the Prairie, build your own home or cooking shows, polka and waltz music and attending many dances.

Marion is survived by her loving family: husband William Godwin; children Jan (JP) O’Neill of Oak Grove, Jean Suttle of Woodbury, Leonard (Wendy) Vos of St. Bonifacius, Lucy Zingsheim of Menomonie, WI, Lisa Vos of Woodbury, Peter (Lynn) of Eden Prairie, Barb Soberski of Burnsville, Helen Vos of Burnsville, Mark (Jackie) of Northfield, and Matthew (Jenny) of New Brighton; daughters-in-law, Lori (Jim) Boelter of Hutchinson and Beth Vos of Maple Grove; step daughters, Kymberly (Mike) Arabian and Shaena (Joshua) Towers; grandchildren, Karissa Anna (Austin) Brownie, Victoria Suttle, Zachary Vos, Dylan Vos, Brett Vos, Garrett Vos, Ann Zingsheim, Amy Zingsheim, Breanna “Blaschke” (Taylor) Anderson, Karissa Lynn Vos, Alexa Vos, Justine (Dan) White, Cody Soberski, Jacob Soberski, Bryce Soberski, Zoey Vos, Clay Vos, Luke Vos, Tyler Vos, Charlie Vos, and Grace Vos; step grandchildren, Mike, Kaitlyn, Josh, Brooke; brothers and sisters, Wilbert “Jim” Schwartz, Bernard “Bernie” Schwartz, Doris (James) Scheff, Andrew (Joyce) Schwartz, Carl (Beverly) Schwartz, Robert “Bobby” (Linda) Schwartz, and Joey (Cindy) Schwartz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marion is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Schwartz; sons, Jeffery Vos and Richard Vos; brother and sister, Richard “Dickie” Schwartz and Helen Schwartz; sisters-in-law, Mary (Jim) Schwartz and Gail (Bernard) Schwartz.
