Marion J. Westling

Marion Jean Westling, age 92, of Henderson, MN, died peacefully on Nov 8, 2017 at NC Little Hospice in Edina. Marion was born Sept 19, 1925 to Arthur and Ingeborg (Sjoberg) Erickson in Adams, ND. She graduated from Adams High School and then attended Mayville Teachers College where she met the love of her life, Roy Westling. They were married in 1949 and made a wonderful life together. During their marriage, they lived in Hitterdahl and Wood Lake before making their permanent home in Henderson. After raising their five children, Marion returned to college, earning a Library Science degree from Mankato State University. She took pride in being an educator, church member, community supporter, and avid Tourist Club leader. After Roy died in 2004, she moved to Bloomington, MN to be near family. It is there where she rediscovered her love for arts, crafts, and having her nails done! Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and most of all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed! Marion is survived by 5 children: Mary Jean (Mick) Thorsland of Bloomington, MN, Don (Jo Bartikoski ) Westling of Omaha, NE, Ryan (Connie) Westling of Austin, TX, Wyman (Jill) Westling of Mountain Iron, MN, Kevin (Sandra) Westling of Rochester, MN; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings: Ruth Ramsey of Park River, ND, Betty (Bill) Pich of Rushford, MN, Arlen Erickson of Devils Lake, ND; sister-in-law Mary Ann Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Roy, grandson Jason Westling, brother Arthur Erickson Jr., sister Pearl Bennington, brother-in-law Lee Bennington, and brother-in-law Walter (Bud) Ramsey. The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11am at St Paul's UCC in Henderson. Rev. Deb Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Brown Cemetery in Henderson.
