Mark Joseph Mager

Mark J. Mager, age 77 of Le Sueur, died on Saturday, December 7, 2013 with his family by his side at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur after a courageous three- year battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning at the Kolden Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Following the 11:00 a.m. Mass, burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Lunch to follow in the lower level of the Valleygreen Square Mall. Mark was born on January 31, 1936 to John and Ethel (Anderley) Mager in Le Sueur. He attended St. Anne's School from grades 1-8. He graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army Reserve for six years. He married Betty Vogt on May 4, 1968 in St. Peter. Mark was the owner and operator of Mager Construction for 39 years, a construction business that consisted of gravel hauling, basement excavating and landscaping with his earth moving equipment. He retired in 1991 after having a stroke. He was a member of Le Sueur Civil Defense and Auxiliary Police and Le Sueur County Pioneer Power. He was a past member of the former group, Le Sueur Sno- Drifters Assoc. He was a lifetime member of Auto Restorers Club of Southern, MN. He enjoyed ice fishing in Northern, Minnesota, gardening, selling produce in downtown Le Sueur, snowmobiling in his younger years. He enjoyed working in his yard and old time music. Mark will be forever missed. Mark is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Jodi Mager of Minneapolis and Kevin Mager of Le Sueur; sister, Anna Mae Scheiber of Le Sueur; in-laws, Leonard and Linda Vogt of Kasota and Mary Ann Hanson of Minnetonka; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
