Marlene A. Carlson

April 19, 1936 — August 5, 2011

Marlene A. Carlson, age 75 of Belle Plaine, died on August 5, 2011 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, Minnesota. Memorial Service will be held 11:00a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 am at church on Monday. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Marlene was born on April 19, 1936 to Helmuth and Marcella (Ahrens) Reinke in Belle Plaine Township, Scott County, MN. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School. On June 12, 1954, she married Reno Carlson at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. After their marriage, they farmed in Sibley County until 1960. That same year they bought the Carlson Hotel from Reno's father, Ernest. For 15 years they operated the bar and café. Marlene then worked at the shoe store and most recently at Village Market. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, traveling and fishing trips with Reno. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her sons, Randy (Terry) Carlson of Henderson and Rick (Sharon) Carlson of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Drew Carlson of Chanhassen, Tanya Carlson of Olivia, Brittney Carlson of Shakopee and Trent Carlson of Marshall; brother, John (Pat) Reinke of Stillwater; sister-in-laws, Helen Hennen of Belle Plaine, Shirley Carlson of Minneapolis, and Betty Carlson of Belle Plaine; borther-in-law, Harry Kerkow of Jordan; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
