Marlys Mary Howie, age 76 passed away on August 23, 2012 at her residence in Burnsville. She suffered from dementia and renal cell carcinoma. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 4-8 pm at Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorial service will be 11:00 am at Kolden Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Marlys was born on July 14, 1936 in Bemidji, MN. Spending much of her life in Bemidji, in 1985 she and her husband Jack moved to the twin cities area. While living in Bemidji she worked at City Drug for many years, also owned a clothing store. While living in the twin cities area she worked at the women's correctional facility in Shakopee for a number of years as the food service supervisor. And most recent place of employment before becoming too ill to work was RDO equipment in Burnsville. Marlys is the beloved wife of Jack Howie. They would be married 50 years on Sept 6 2012. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning and decorating. She also enjoyed taking her grandchildren to lunch and shopping with them. Spending time with family was most important to her. Marlys is preceded in death by her parents Merton and Margaret (Carpenter) Beighley; brothers, Clarence, George, Laurance and an infant boy; sister, Margie. Marlys is survived by her husband Jack of Burnsville, MN Sons: Joey Burnham of Bovey, MN Jay (Kristi) Howie of Belle Plaine, MN Daughter: Kristi (Jim) Traut of Belle Plaine, MN Grandchildren: Kevin, Bradley and Jason Burnham, Jayden Howie, Danika and Chelsi Traut Brother: Morris (Sherry) Beighley, Cohasset, MN Sister: Marlene Mullin of Jordan. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
