Martin "Marty" Brueggemeier

Martin "Marty" Brueggemeier, age 85 of Arlington, died at his home on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Green Isle Township, Sibley County. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 27, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington from 4:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Marty was born on May 7, 1932 to Martin & Malinda (Meyer) Brueggemeier in Benton Township, Carver County. He was baptized on May 22, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Township. He attended Zion Lutheran Church Country School and Green Isle Township Country Schools. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, 1953 - 1954. He married Violet Brockoff on February 19, 1955 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN. The couple lived in Arlington for a short time before moving to their rural Arlington farm. Marty worked for Dahlke Excavating, Arlington, MN then Wm. Mueller and Sons, Hamburg before entering into the military. After his discharge from the United States Army, he farmed in rural Arlington, MN and worked at Green Giant in Glencoe, MN. Marty ended his working years driving truck for Wm. Mueller and Sons in Hamburg, MN. He was a member of the Hamburg Lions Club, Arlington V.F.W. and was a trustee, elder and cemetery board member for Zion Lutheran Church, Green Isle Township. Marty enjoyed fishing, playing cards and his time with his family and friends. He is survived by his sons; Virgil (Katherine) Brueggemeier of New Prague, MN; Merlin (Lynne) Brueggemeier of Arlington, MN; David (Joan) Brueggemeier of Belle Plaine, MN and Duane (Susan) Bueggemeier of Arlington, MN. Grandchildren; Troy, Jason, Brittany, Kalie, Tyler Brueggemeier, Amanda (Lucas) Davenport, Jessica, Rebecca, Jacob and Emma Brueggemeier. Sister, Karen Beaudry of Melbourne, FL; Sisters-in-Law; Melva Teschendorf of Green Isle, MN; Orma Menk of Arlington, MN and Lilah Boser of New Brighton, MN, in addition to many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Violet in 2004; grandson, Travis; parents, Malinda and Martin Brueggemeier Sr; brother, Glen and many brothers & sisters-in-law.
