Mary Catherine (Bigaouette) Kolter

Mary Catherine Kolter, age 101, of Henderson died Monday, April 7, 2025 at her home in Henderson. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, (after Easter) at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Fr. Chris Shofner will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. ~ 10:30 a.m. at church that morning.  Lunch at St. Anne’s School will follow the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Henderson after lunch.

Mary was born on September 18, 1923 in St. Paul, MN to Frank and Patricia (Kelly) Bigaouette. She grew up in the Henderson area and attended Henderson Schools. Mary married James “Turk” Kolter on January 15, 1944 at Camp White, Oregon. The couple lived in Winona for a short time after Jim returned home from the service they moved to Henderson, MN.  She worked many years at the Farmers Store in Henderson and later at the State Hospital in St. Peter.

She is survived by her children, Dave Kolter of Henderson, MN, Nancy (Ron) Brandt of Prior Lake, MN and Jerry (Betsy Danielson) Kolter of Sandstone, MN; Grandkids, Cris (Steve) Gerster of Farmington, MN, Tricia (Dan) Hubley of Savage, MN, Michael Kolter of Henderson, MN and Tom (Alexis) Kolter of Henderson, MN; Great-Grandkids, Brynn and Eva Gerster,  Abby, Julia, Jude, Zoey Kolter, Erin and Autumn Kolter and Cole Hubley. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Ella Berger and LaRene Kehoe and brothers, William, Pat and Robert Bigaouette.
