Mary A. Edberg

October 30, 1928 — December 31, 2017

Mary Agnes Devine Edberg passed from this life on December 31,2017 at her home. She was preceded by her spouse, Dale E. Edberg in 1958. Funeral will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be two hours prior. She was born on October 30, 1928 in Blakely Township to William and Margaret (Connolly) Devine. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School and went on to work for General Electric in St. Paul until her marriage to Dale on June 10, 1952. Together they shared the birth of their six children and their love of horses. After Dale's death, Mary raised her children and when the youngest two entered school she began working for Valley View Nursing Home as a Recreation Therapist. She continued working for them until they closed their doors and she then transferred to St. Gertrude's Nursing Home. She finally retired when she was 78 years old! Survivors include her children, Joyce (Virgil) Noll, Patrice (John) Waldorf, Robert (Eydie) Edberg, Jean (Gary Brenke) Gerdes, Michael (Terri) Edberg and Mary Joe Edberg, her grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Noll, Shannon Noll, Heather (Ron) Fry, Amber (Jesse Pobuda) Noll, Melissa (J.Kevin) Yardley, Monica (Nathan) Moses, Amanda (Steve Horejsi) Noyce, Patrick (Britany Bach) Edberg, Nathon (Shari) Gerdes, Stacy (Chad) Straub, Julene (Matt Pudwill) Gerdes, Amy (Ben Ditlevson) Edberg, Jill (Nathan) Wenninger, and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nine siblings, Rose Nelsen, Audrey Goulet, Michael (Darlene) Devine, Diane Wolpern, Joanne Frank, Susan (Robert) Hartmann, Joseph (Mary) Devine, Donna Lay and Barbara Devine, her sisters-in-laws, Doris (Maynard Krentz)Edberg and Marie Edberg and many loving nieces and nephews. Those preceding her in death in addition to her spouse were her parents, her in-laws, Eldridge and Mabel Edberg and her brothers, Gerald, Roger, Warren and Dale Devine and her sister, Elizabeth Murphy. She was a very independent, courageous woman who strongly believed in God and family. Her Irish heritage was something she was so proud of. Her beautiful, big brown eyes will be smiling down on us from now on!
